Biography
Bruce W. Cook        born 1950  
         A New England native,  Bruce grew up north
of Boston in Beverly, Ma.  He has summered in Maine
and on Cape Cod since early childhood, enjoying and
experiencing the varied scenic vistas of the New
England area .  
         After graduating from Bishop Fenwick High
School in Peabody, Ma. in 1968, he attended
Notheastern University in Boston, Ma. and later North
Shore Community College in Beverly, Ma. . Finding the
rigid, structured system of college education at the time
incompatible with his needs, Bruce began a career in
the automotive field . While working full time, he studied
at the “Vesper George School of Art” in Boston, Ma.
         Bruce lived on Cape Cod in Yarmouth and
Chatham in the mid 1970’s before returning to the
Beverly area and sketching, drawing and painting  part
time for many years. In 2000, he returned to the Cape
to pursue his life long dream of painting full time. He
currently resides in Chatham, Ma.
         Bruce works on many different subjects mainly in
Acrylic and Oils on various grounds including canvas,
board and paper.  His work ranges from semi - abstract
to more tightly rendered paintings. He has studied the
works and processes of both old masters and more
modern artists. He is mainly self taught and enjoys his
reference library about art and artists.                         
         His work is in collections in New Jersey, New York,
Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin and Florida as
well as throughout New England. Bruce is also a
photographer.. He also produces high-quality Archival
Digital Giclee Reproductions and a line of art and photo
greeting cards of many of his photos and paintings.
Bruce accepts commission work.

Artist's Statement

The interaction of light and shadow is the core
dynamic of all paintings. I seek to capture this
essence in my work.
The learning process never ends.
